Showmax, Africa’s leading streaming service, has announced a strategic partnership with Baxi by Onafriq to expand payment options for its Nigerian subscribers. This collaboration aims to simplify the subscription process, making world-class entertainment more accessible through trusted digital and physical payment channels.

Beginning Monday, 22 December 2025, Showmax users can manage their subscriptions directly through the Baxi ecosystem, leveraging both the mobile app and an extensive network of physical agents.

The partnership introduces several streamlined methods for users to stay connected, including direct integration within the Baxi by Onafriq app where existing customers can select and pay for any Showmax plan. Additionally, subscribers can visit any Baxi POS agent to load funds directly into their Showmax accounts using their verified mobile numbers. Users also have the option to top up their Baxi accounts to maintain a specific balance for recurring Showmax payments.

These new payment gateways support a variety of plans, including Showmax Entertainment Mobile, Showmax Entertainment for all devices, and Showmax Premier League Mobile. Subscribers can also opt for bundled plans that combine the Premier League offering with standard entertainment on either mobile or all devices.

For those new to the platform, the signup process has been optimized for speed through a simple three-step journey. First, users register on the Showmax mobile app before receiving a verification OTP via SMS or WhatsApp to confirm their mobile number. Finally, the subscription is activated by returning to the Baxi app or visiting a local agent to complete the account top-up.

Tope Oshunkeye, Executive Head of Marketing, West Africa, MultiChoice, emphasized that the move is about accessibility: “We are making streaming on Showmax more accessible, allowing our customers to pay quickly and securely through a trusted financial service provider.”

Mxolisi Msutwana, Managing Director, Anglophone West Africa, Onafriq, highlighted the digital impact: “By automating the renewal process, we are not only providing greater convenience for customers but also helping to drive the adoption of digital payments across Nigeria.”

By meeting subscribers where they already conduct their financial transactions, Showmax is reinforcing its commitment to making digital entertainment effortless for the Nigerian market.
