Top three areas data streaming brings value to organizations

Data streaming has evolved from a niche technical capability to a cornerstone of modern business strategy. A new research report by Conduktor, an intelligent data hub for streaming data and AI, reveals that large organizations across the US and Europe are already reaping significant rewards from their investments in real-time data.

The study, which surveyed 200 senior IT and data executives at companies with annual revenues exceeding $50 million, identifies the core drivers behind the technology’s rapid adoption.

According to the report, organizations are deriving the most significant benefits in three specific areas:

    1. Companies are using data streaming to provide faster, highly personalized services that meet consumer demands in the moment.
    2. The ability to respond to market shifts or internal data as it happens allows for unprecedented business agility.
    3. By analyzing data patterns in real-time, organizations can identify and prevent security threats or fraudulent transactions before they escalate.

Beyond these top three, the research highlighted gains in optimizing supply chains, automating workflows, and reducing operational costs through rapid issue resolution.

Despite the clear advantages, the path to a seamless data streaming ecosystem is fraught with technical challenges as 86% of respondents admitted to struggling with integration across different streaming platforms, primarily due to inconsistent governance models.

Also, an overwhelming 98% of executives expressed concern about losing access to valuable data during the process of consolidating their streaming platforms.

Nicolas Orban, CEO of Conduktor, warns that without a unified approach, the proliferation of platforms can lead to “chaos” caused by connectivity gaps, changing data quality rules, and a lack of trust in new platform performance.

To avoid data loss and maintain continuity during migrations or consolidations, Conduktor recommends involving three key teams from the outset:

    • The Governance Team: To manage lineage tracking, data contracts, and documentation.
    • The Platform Team: To build technical “bridges”—such as proxies and shadow consumers—that ensure continuity during transitions.
    • The Security Team: To handle the migration of complex access policies (IAM, RBAC, and ABAC) and firewall approvals.

The demand for these capabilities is reflected in the market’s explosive growth. Data from Dataintelo values the global streaming data processing market at $9.5 billion in 2023, with projections to reach $23.8 billion by 2032. This growth is fueled by the relentless surge of data from IoT devices, social media, and enterprise systems.

By adopting a common control plane like the one offered by Conduktor organizations can unify their operational data, regain control, and transform “data chaos” into a streamlined engine for growth.
