    Expert highlights industries with top job opportunities in post Covid-19 era

    Engr. Ikechukwu Nnamani an entrepreneur with business interest in telecommunications, media, healthcare and financial technology services has highlighted industries, where top job opportunities will be available in the post-Covid-19 era.

    Ikechukwu gave the highlights yesterday, when he featured as a resource person during a Zoom Video Conference on the ‘Future of Works and Jobs (Post Covid-19), what to expect and how to be ready’, which was organized by Young Innovators Nigeria.

    According to him, Covid-19 has impacted the value of jobs, leading to job losses and is also accelerating a shift in the workforce to what he described as digital workforce.

    “There will be immediate and temporary opportunities in the Post Covid-19 era, but those who are looking for long term and permanent opportunities should begin to develop skills that will aid them to work in the Information and Communications Technology sector, especially in areas like cybersecurity, programmers and developers, telecom operators and data analysts,” Ikechukwu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Medallion Communications Limited said.

    Other long term and permanent opportunities, according to him are in electronic commerce and financial technology; online study, short term training and specialization; food production and mechanized farming.

    He also urged people to invest and develop skills in logistics and supply management as there will be interest in eCommerce, cargo business and specialized delivery across the world.

    Speaking further on Understanding the impact of Covid-19 on the way we live and work, Ikechukwu noted that the permanent impact of post Covid-19 containment is that there will be a new way of life as many organizations will change office structure to continue enforcing social distancing.

    He argues that at the national level, there will be continued to be lower revenue for Nigeria and other countries depended on oil, leading to recession and depression with many projects being suspended.

    Top 5 industries impacted by Covid-19 in March 2020 as highlighted by Credit Analytics PD Model market signals are Airlines, Casinos & Gaming, Auto Part & Equipment, Oil & Gas Drilling and Leisure facilities.

    Also, industries least impacted in the same month are property & casual insurance, Healthcare, Multiline Insurance, Life and Health insurance and industrial REITs.
